Does anyone know how to reset the warning brake lamp ? Once the work is done , does the lamp reset automaticaly or do I need to do something?
Thanks.

On older BMW's, the light switches off as soon as you break the contact by sticking on a new brake sensor (or just pulling out/disconnecting the old sensor).

it should reset on its own, if not they might have to re-program it on your ecu

The Bentley repair manual says... page 340-8

When replacing pads and sensors, turn the ignition key on (car not running) and leave on for approx. 2 minutes. This will reset the brake lining indicator lamp.

Make sure you have installed a new sensor though. :)

Is this while changing the sensor or after the work is done?

Oh BTW , saw a very nice looken M3 (black ) on Henri-Bourassa (in RDP) at a red light tonight. I felt like crap in my 323 when I pulled right beside it ....lol Who was that masked man? ;-)

Later guys.And thanks for advice!

New sensors (and fresh brake pads obviously) or check brake fluid level. And if the problem had occured on a good old e30, I would have said that like most of those cars, the gauge cluster board has a broken solder...

Lee - on the E30: if i dont have sensors in the pads at all (the connectors are cut) how do i make the light from the cluster diapear? Do i short the wires at the sensors or do i brake the circuit??
thanks
A.

You short them.

The sensor is just a wire looping in a plastic tab. When the brake pad wears, they also wear that wire and eventually cut it to create an open circuit and turn the light ON.

Hey Michel. Tu devrais discuter avec Cherif la clause des ceintures 3 points/4 points pour BAB7.

Je croyais que c'etait OK pour une 3 points avec un instructeurs du Quebec?
