View Full Version : BMW Club to be recognized by FSAQ and ASN-FIA
Hi to all club members and automotive enthusiasts.
Our dedication to safety and structured training has brought fruits as our curiculum and modus operandi will become the norm accepted by FSAQ that all FSAQ affiliated schools will have to follow. We are also mandated to train FSAQ-recognized instructors. That means that we are establishing the norms for safety and training. We will issue certifications for drivers intending to compete in Solo Sprint, and those wanting to attend a new discipline called "lapping". We are expecting our directors' approval to soon proceed with this agreement with FSAQ.
So, no more arguing on a certain website with what is safe training or not (or even if training is required). Case closed.

Bravo et encore Bravo!
Hi, everyone.
This is something that Lee has been working on for several months, along with Cherif. I'm sure everyone can appreciate what a massive undertaking it was! Big thanks to Lee for making this happen.
It may seem strange to the casual BMW Club of Quebec member that we have pursued such an initiative. After all, we already have our own High Performance Driving School, instructor training, and Club Race curriculums. Why do we care about FSAQ affiliation?
It's because the primary thing we're interested in is turning out safe drivers. We want people to be better drivers on the street as well as introduce them to the joys of motorsport. We are considered unique in the region for the quality of our driving schools. The BMW Club has over 30 years history in advanced driver training and our safety record is unimpeachable. FSAQ recognized that and a collaboration was born.
I will leave it to Lee and Chrif to fill in the details. In short, the FSAQ will utilize our curriculum and mandate that it be used throughout the province. This will cover even "lapping" type events, which in the hands of other organizations have degenerated into unsafe free-for-alls. Just as this upsets us, it upsets FSAQ. Poorly run track events of ANY type (even lapping) give serious motorsports enthusiasts a black eye.
Overall, this is something really exciting. It's a histroic time for our Club.

Congrats!!
Keep up the good work.
The work is not all mine. It is what event organizers and participants have bring and taken at each event. It had us noticed by people we did not know at that time. Last year, I invited Stéphane Damato from CADL and FSAQ to witness what we were doing. He frequently visited our website and noticed our discipline and commitment to safety and "rigueur" when it came to training. He was the one to contact us (me) and see what can be done to apply this spirit on a regional level.
The fact that we are a good bunch of people not dedicated to one brand of car, but to become better drivers was also a plus.
Thanks to everyone.
