Council News. Newsletter of the International Council of BMW Clubs.
Issue 1/2009

Dear BMW Club Members,

Spring approaches and with it comes the latest issue of Council News. Once again you will find interesting stories about BMW from all over the world. For example, read how a young couple travelled round the world in the legendary Goggomobil at the end of the fifties. For four years, the little car was their mobile home: porcelain crockery, coffee machine, and tent – everything was on board. In the first part of our new series we tell you how this great adventure got underway.

You can find out more about legendary classic cars on the BMW Classic website which now boasts a new design. The website is now available in English, too, and offers many new functions such as improved contact research and order facilities. Why not take a look?

Turning old into new also applies to the BMW Club Corporate Identity. Last year it was given a new appearance, to be applied as of 2011. Many clubs have already started using the new logo. All further data in connection with the new, more modern design guidelines is to be found on a CD which was sent out to all umbrella organisations as well as on the website of the BMW Clubs International Council.

Join us, too, as we remember the bush fires which plagued Australia in February. Strong winds and rising temperatures caused devastating fires with flames up to 80 metres high. On behalf of the Australian clubs, Stewart Garmey thanks club members for their sympathies and tells us what has happened since.

In 2009 you can once again rely on the strong community of the BMW Club. Get off to a great start in spring with us: the team of the BMW Clubs International Office hopes you enjoy reading the latest issue of the Council Newsletter!
