I think the best choice on that list is the 3.0L Yamaha built engine that Ford put in the SHO. You pretty much had a race tuned engine that was so balanced it could rev out at 8500rpm. It produced the same HP as a 5.0L Mustang.. The only downside to the engine is that it's very complicated to work on.

They mention the GMC Typhoon... however GM also made a Syclone version that was an S10 pick up with the same engine.. That was even faster. 0-60 in 4.6s and mid 13s 1/4 times back in 1991.

If the Yamaha motor had been allowed to rev to 8500rpm, the hp output would have been far greater than 250. Checking up on Lespac, used SHOs go for peanuts, not any more than a regular Taurus of the same model year.
