Looks like the F1 race in Montreal will be scratched off the list for 2009

Yup.
I don't remember if there was an ongoing contract for F1 to be in Montreal. If there was I am sure the organizers of Abu Dhabi just wrote a check to buy that out.
I knew the race could be in danger when they couldn't fix the track for 3 straight years. That is inexcusable.
And it's not posh enough, when compared to Abu Dhabi. Having a race in a place where the local population can actually afford the tickets to the grandstands is not the current F1 style.
Well, it frees up a weekend to go to the track.
And did promise to boycott the race after the idiotic political stewards rulings in Spa. Now I can keep my word.

Im sad but I saw it coming.. Those middle eastern races are the ones that F1 wants to have these days. Not having a North American date is just stupid though.
So either we will get an Indy Car race or Sprint Cup date... Only in my dreams :(

Where did you guys read this? Anyway, decisions have been changed in the past? On the bright side, more money for another track day or two.

Even if they want to put it back in there is no room in the schedule.
The Turkish GP is on June 7th now.
I guess, I'll have to go to a race somewhere else in a few years. I figure Japan is due for a visit. I may even participate in a togue battle in a rental car.

Nascar at Watkins Glen is where I'll most likely end up. Although Pocono is nice, the track is boring and the surrounding area isn't much fun. Unless you like to hang out with my family on the porch hootin and hollerin.

That short little fella with the white hair helmet cares only about enrichening his pocket - not that he is in need of any additional $$. (Not bad for a guy who started off selling used cars?)

Pits. Maybe we can all buy used f1 cars and do it ourselves. Sponshorship will cover tires, crews & track rental. Those of us over a certain age will get Viagra sponsorship and be forced to hang out with umbrella girls to prove, or at least imply, that viagra is working for us and for our good friends in the bikinis. Those of you under that certain age can get pizza delivery jobs.

John, there is a club race at Mosport during that weekend.
Now you owe me a beer for solving your scheduling dilema.

I have a new trick for visiting remote tracks which is to drive 3-4 hours at night and then work during the day wherever I can find wifi. The problem with mosport is I would have to drive mon, tues, weds, thurs nights to get there and sun, mon, tues, weds nights to get back. Far away is still far away. Maybe if I used the sikorsky to being me, the car, the trailer, and the truck. Don't forget the chef, the family, and 20 or so of my closest friends.
