View Full Version : Damn engine turning over but not catching
god damn, so close yet so far
finally installed engine, everything hooked up right triple checked wiring, all mechanical is fine
engine turns over but doesn't wanna catch
double checked timing belt before installing engine
getting spark
engines turning over
intake and afm working fine
installed injectors from a 96 bmw m3
not sure how to check on newer injectors
i'm thinking that it might be the injectors
damn anyone have any ideas of what it could be
thanks
oh yeah the fuel pump works
Definitely sounds like a fueling problem. You've checked the fuel pump relay?
Emre
Are the TPS and MAF correctly connected to the proper devices? Is the DME working?
yeah checked the relay working fine, the tps and maf all wired fine, triple checked that
hey how can i check if the dme is working ?
how can i check if the dme is working ?If there's an aftermarket chip inside, there's a good chance it's popped out of the socket. you can just open the DME and look inside.
Other than that, the car would need a "brain transplant." Swap in a used DME from a working car and see what happens.
Emre
naw unfortunately there's no chip, damn gonna have to try and borrow a dme from someone
anyone have one i can borrow? lol

Just a last ditch effort, verify that the cam sensor is working ,I had a problem with corrosion on the connectior. Car wouldn't start, just turned over & over until I cleaned the contacts.
yeah i'll give it a check, but i still think its the dme
checked the dme connections, tested them out with some bridge-ing and everything works fine, so i'm 95% sure that its the problem
does anyone have a dme for an 87 325i laying around i can borrow for some tests??
lemme know
thanks!!
