My Stebro exhaust seems to have gotten noisier lately. I don't drive my car much, but I have to short shift when driving on city streets so as not to gather the attention of the fuzz. Is there something I can clip on the tailpipes to baffle the sound a bit more?

not that I know of for that type of exhaust.

It needs to be repacked

You have over time lost the packing inside the muffler, but depending how it was manufactured, depends if you can repack it. Look down the center inside the muffler and see if the perforated tube is loose or damaged. To repack it you will need Mineral Wool (Roxul, flame retardent insulation), which you can get at most Home Building Supplier.

To day most racing mufflers are designed to be disassembled so they can be repack periodically.

Otherwise you will need to add a SuperTrapp to the end for street driving. The more discs used, the louder and more powerful your engine will be. When you take it to the track you remove the end cap and disc, so your BMW can compete with Ferrari's for sound in the forest.

Can't attach a supertrapp? http://www.supertrapp.com/product_sections/cat.asp?CatID=32
I don't know if $200 is a win over getting the exhaust fixed, aside from the killer look.

The racers usually try soup cans and brillo pads. It usually works for about 1 lap. But then they are racing.

The supertrapps also come off the race cars unless they are through-bolted or welded.

Having a second muffler probably wouldn't help with power.

are you kidding? a Supertrapp on Henry's gorgeous M6?

on a race car or quasi-race car like Alan's Audi, ok but PLEASE Henry don't do it!

I have 2 exhaust tips, that $400 Yikes! I think I will try the more economical approach first (glass wool).

John,

I would think that the tin can would probably attract more attention than the loud exhaust sound
