Are there any events this weekend? Please let me know! I want to practice with a friend, aka highly respected and ridiculously fast driver.

There is the "Ballade d'été" but I guess this may not be the type of event you are looking for?

I'd like to go to that.. but pure track time to work on my technique is preferrable. Otherwise I'll spend a few hours carting.

I believe the event is undersold.

This is a driving skills event and not a driving school.

This is a driving skills event and not a driving school.I think that's as close as we're going to get for this weekend...especially on such short notice!

Thank you. Last minute -- seems to be a trend. I'm still waiting to find out if I'm instructing or not at BABX and other events -- difficult to improve when needing track time; might have to resort to karting for now if no consistent tracking is available!

You should go to car shows at Night Clubs.. Adam and I made that mistake last night.
Who needs to go to a track when you have 18 year old girls and neon lights all around you :p

Mixing in with barely legals can get you into more trouble than on the track:)

It's not so bad for me at least. With you it's more of a case of go directly to jail, do not collect 200$ if you even look :p

You could pay for your track time like everyone else.

It's looking to be more consistent way to get track time -- I might have been mistaken thinking instructing would be the way to get seat time (both observing and driving). In my field of work, watching, doing and teaching are considered equally important ways to obtain excellence.
I might have been mistaken thinking instructing would be the way to get seat timeI've found instructing is generally too tiring (both mentally a physcially) to get much track time during a big HPDE weekend. I generally go out late, return early, skip sessions, etc. It seems like if I weren't giving out passenger rides I'd hardly go out at all.
In my field of work, watching, doing and teaching are considered equally important ways to obtain excellence.Agreed. Even though I'm behind the wheel less than I used to be as a student, I feel like I've learned quite a lot as an instructor. My own driving has improved significantly as a result of sitting in the "wrong" seat.

BAB was a pretty good deal even if you pay assuming you take the Friday. A 3 day extravaganza.
I would have paid for the event and then tried to change status to instructor. Gets your foot in the door.

Agreed. That's the nice thing about BAB X (and other events with "open" Day 1s). Instructors get 5 hours of track time on friday. So you get your fun in, and then "work" for 2 days. Three-day events where you're working with students all 3 days are killer.

These are all great points -- I should have checked the details of everything closer (but I've only been home less than a week over the past 3 weeks).
