I registered as a member of the BMW club du Quebec last year in April, and other than getting a very nice letter and card, I never received any additional information. I was under the impression there was a quarterly pamphlet. Anyways, I just wanted more information on the proceedings of this club. Is the website the only way to know about up and coming events? and so forth.

There was a quarterly pamphlet. It was supposed to become an online publication but the people organizing it did not do it. Now we operate mostly from the website. Click on the logo on top left to go to the main website. We are working on adding more content but information on upcoming events is already there. We welcome contributions to the site from members. Any submission can be sent to webmaster@bmwquebec.ca .

The monthly meeting provides a good way to find out what is going on in the club. There is one today at Zanetti. Find the directions on the site.

I registered as a member of the BMW club du Quebec last year in April, and other than getting a very nice letter and card, I never received any additional information. I was under the impression there was a quarterly pamphlet. You're absolutely right. Originally, we were mailing out a quarterly newsletter. We figured that in 2005 our little newsletter was a little old fashioned: it was taking too long to get news and info to the membership. We decided to ditch the paper newsletter and replace it with an electronic version. Unfortunately, the transition has been much more difficult than we imagined!

First, we needed to completely scrap the old website. Andrei has basically single-handedly built up this new site. But, there's still a lot of work to do. We are transitioning to a new way to track members, an electronic method of membership renewal, etc. We've built this forum so members can communicate with each other and the directors more openly and immediately.

Meanwhile, the club directors have been very busy booking and organizing this summer's events. We alrady have 4 driving schools planned at some exciting tracks...and we're planning on adding a fifth event. We will host at least 2 (and probably 3) show-n-shine events. We are planning to close off a street and host our second annual "Bimmernight" party during this year's Grand Prix weekend (members will be allowed to put their cars on display). As you can imagine, this takes up a lot of time and the directors have been forced to put the electronic newsletter on the backburner for the time being!

Anyways, I just wanted more information on the proceedings of this club. Is the website the only way to know about up and coming events? and so forth. We plan to post all news and announcements here on the forums and on the Club's homepage. Additionally, we are working on an e-mail list to send announcements out to the membership. Finally, we are (still!) working on putting together an electronic newsletter. In the meantime, we will continue to post interesting articles on the website.

You are always welcome to attend our monthly meetings at Zanetti's in Little Italy. We have the place to ourselves on the first Tuesday of each month. You missed a fun meeting last night. Hope to see you there next month!

During winter there is a monthly karting event. its evey first sunday of the month and it just happens so there is one this weekend. You are always welcome to join that as well. Its interesting to note that the people who meet at zanetti are not the same that show up at karting (with a few exceptions of course)- both are fun :)

Great to hear about the karting... I will admit I have never done any... But I am unafraid ;) I don't mind coming in last. My point is to have fun and learn :)
