URGENT NOTICE FROM THE METRO NY PCA REGION REGARDING
LE CIRCUIT MONT TREMBLANT

The Metro NY Region of the Porsche Club of America would like to invite the BMW Club of Quebec to join us for a great DE weekend at Mont Tremblant Saturday June 9th and Sunday June 10th.

TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS OPPORTUNITY WE ARE ASKING THAT YOU ACT IMMEDIATELY AND REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT NOW

Due to the continued escalation of costs associated with renting tracks, as well as keeping our DE fees reasonable, we need to know in advance how many entrants are willing to commit to this particular event.

If we receive adequate registrations and the event is scheduled, your fee will be considered non-refundable. If enough paid participants are not received before the deadline of March 26 we will not be able to justify the expense of running the event and it will be cancelled. In that case, you will receive either a full refund or credit towards any other Metro NY Driver Education event this year.

We will waive our Fire Extinguisher requirement but request you use our Tech forms when pre-teching for this event.

To confirm your participation, it is IMPERATIVE that your payment is received either by check or Paypal on or before March 26

The fees for this event are:
Students $170 per day (US funds)
Instructors $85 per day (US Funds)

Paypal address: mnydereg@optonline.net

Mailing address:
Dave Hartman; 14 Albert St.; Shoreham, NY 11786
D.E. Hotline: 631-744-1115

For more information and entry forms, please go to www.metronypca.org

This is sad they had to cancel. At the same time, it shows club members that it is not easy to organize events and that it requires a good balance of planning and gambling. PCA cancelled the event 11 weeks before it would have taken place and they played extremely safe. But we all know that there is a huge portion of drivers who will register 5 or 6 weeks before the event, if not two weeks prior to the event.

But we are talking about big money here. It's not like a few grand (a la Sanair). A hit of this magnitude can break the club coffers. I guess they made an informed decision.

Well, I have never seen an event that was sold out 11 weeks before it actual took place. Yes, they played safe. But many of our big events only broke even a week or two before it started. Luckily we did not cancel them 2 months ahead.

Well, they probably figure the prospects of attracting more participants smack in the middle of GP weekend did not look very good.

Please note that Calabogie will be a 2-day event, not 3 days.
It's Sat/Sun June 30/July 1st.

June 29th will be reserved for instructors/instructor candidates and certified solo drivers only.

Why don't we send them a special invitation to join us?

Their price was great, it was a weekend event and I was secretly hoping the grand prix would keep it low profile(:o..) unfortunately it didn't go through. I believe their attendance expectations were too high, and as lee pointed out, they played it way on the safe side.... in any case they must be new at tremblant. Sad for the NY people who wanted to go, and sad for all of us that a quality event got canceled.

I definitely think inviting them at our event is a good idea. Hopefully they will try again next year and return the invitation again.
