Hi all, been looking for a short shifter , there's a couple of them that look good, helix, B+M. but then the cover becomes a big factor in my purchase..
last week another mini Enthusiast sent me a email . telling me that a local short shifter company ( http://www.twmperformance.com/ (http://www.twmperformance.com/)) is looking for two MCSs . one 02/04 and one 05. to help build a prototype . Which will include a cover, full shortshifter and a option of adding on a stock knob or using one of there heavier shifter knobs
There engineer patrick showed me a prototype for a 350z . i was totally amazed at the workmanship and quility. they offer a great product at a reasonable price.
If you are looking into buying a short shifter ,you should wait a little longer for these twm short shifters to hit the market and then make your choice. http://www.mini2.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.mini2.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Hi!

Both B&M and TWM have products that we frequently see in the Mitsubishi communities. Both seem to be equally as good as far as quality of the product goes. I'd probably want to wait to see that it's properly built for my specific car before I purchased though (but that might just be me.. I don't mind prototypes, *IF* I build those myself!)

Hey Mike!

Let me say that again.. What I meant is not that the prototype unit itself is not as good a quality as the production product (altought it *might*). What I meant was that *I* personaly want to wait for people to own/use/abuse the actual production units to the point where I'd trust it...

I've had an el-cheapo unit installed on my previous car and sometimes when lifting the throttle in 2nd gear it would pop right out to neutral.. (Needless to say, the unit didn't stay there for very long!)

EDIT: the old unit I'm talking about was neither B&M nor TWM. I have no evidence to suspect that either of the two companies would produce bad units. I'm just like the proverbial cat who now fears even cold water..
