Only the BMWCCA Club Racing rule book can tell. And it is available from their site.

Yup, allready read it. I'm guessing they're not legal.
From the rulebook -->"B. Camshaft lift and duration may be changed from stock. Cam gears and valve springs are free. No other internal engine changes are allowed."
I was hoping someone would tell me otherwise.
I'm allowed to change the cam but if I can't change the rockers to take advantage of the extra breathing capacity reliably then one route I could take would be to maximise torque under 6k as opposed to getting a *traditional* full race cam.
I bring this up as I've recently broken a rocker with a stock cam (and a chip). I don't think that a hotter cam that makes power higher up will help matters. What I would be left with is a more powerful engine with an even more fragile head.
So what can I do to maximise the strength of my rockers? get them shot peened (legal?) What about Cryo treating them? (It works with brake disks)
Or run a wild cam and replace the rockers every xx hours and consider it
part of my consumables...
It seems like a bad compromise to me.

Interestingly, the Korman rocker arms would not add power, but only reliability. Logically it should be allowed. Simply post on the Club Racing list. Are you licensed with Club Racing? If you are interested, then let us know. You will need some previous driving experience (Driver education) or a valid license fom another organiztion) and be refered. Just attend a few events with us.
hmm logically it should be allowed there is nothing engine enhancing that it would give

I've taken the Trac 3 day course that would allow my to apply for my road racing licence, I haven't as of yet because I plan on running next year. I'm just trying to get track time on various tracks this year including the better part of the QC solo1 series. I'm also getting to know the car and taking the time to work through it's little booboos as I've only had it since last October.
I realise that the Rocker arms would not make more power in themselves but if I run a real lumpy cam that makes power way up in the rev range combined with the Korman rocker arms then it would give me an advantage because I would be able to run longer or higher up in the rev range without having them fail. Also as you pointed out Lee and as the old adage goes, to finish first, first you have to finish.
Really, you can argue the legality both ways. This being said, if the Korman rockers are not legal, I'm sure people are doing some things to keep their heads together. Does cryo treating or getting them heat treated sound like a good idea?
I'm pretty set on running in the prepared class as I think I would get tired of stock as I like to tinker with my car and any of the classes above prepared look to me like they would require cubic dollars to run competitively.
How does one get on the mailing list and what events are being held this summer as I would love to come out and see the action. Do you run Lee? Do you need someone to help out in the pits?
Thanks,
Andre
Hi andre, everyone is welcome to show up at BAB7 as visitors. As for the TRAC schools, it is not a real race school, and it is not enough training to get a BMWCCA Club Racing license. Your best chance to get your license is to attend a few driver schools with a BMW Club. I have seen many drivers who got their "racing" license after passing TRAC's school, and they were nothing less than frightening. TRAC's school is not a race school. It is barely an introduction to performance driving. And it is an illusion to think that after one evening of theory and two days of doing cones and a few passings is enough to make someone a racer.
Don't be afraid to join us at our events. That is your best ticket to Club Racing.

I agree with you as far as the TRAC school goes as there were some *interesting* characters there that did not get shown the door. The thought that they could end up on a recetrack somewhere is frightening. This being said, I found that there was some good instruction and usefull seat time. I guess sometimes it depends on the student :D .
I do have 5 years of kart racing under my belt. I've also done a few Raven Days in addition to Tremblant last week with the Trilium Chapter. Presently, I'm just trying to get as much track time as possible, learning as much as possible and most of all, just enjoying the whole process.
I'll see if I can make it up to BAB7, it looks like it will be a lot of fun.
