that guy is such an asshole...why is he an asshole? I think Tiff Needell is brilliant.

Really lets his enthusiasm come across, unlike Jeremy Clarkson

Nice video

tiff is awesome, i have nothing against him... he's an asshole, for being able to do that to a car that doesnt belong to him. i dont know how many of you have seen the RS4 vid, he has some major skills..

I think we all agree that Tiff is over-exhuberant, but hey, he runs a TV show for enthusiast drivers and that exhuberance has become his trademark. Going sideways doesn't hurt the car, just the tires, which can be replaced. He has a good driving technic and excellent car control.

Some people might not like cars going sideways, and I respect that. But God, does he do it nicely.

You'd think that experienced racers like Tiff Needell and Jason Plato would know better. Even Vicki Butler-Henderson has some backgraound in racing (though less successful than the other two).

I also noticed that - but they are presumably driving mostly brand new cars and not at their limits - plus they "know what they are doing". When they did the speed test with the maclaren F1 - sure enough tiff had a helmet on. when he was demostrating a race car that sounds like a bucket of bolts - he had a helmet.
i also suspect the stig to be a set of 10 different drivers (because of the helmet) I dont think it will make a good show if the hosts had helmets and talking at the same time. -
Still: gives a bad example to viewers that its safe to be in a car with tiff and not wear a helmet :)

It is true that not wearing an helmet is not a good exemple and it simply tells sppectators that it is okay. Which it is not, especially when a spectator tries to replicate what he saw on TV, without a helmet and, above all, the appropriate skills.

I think the stig is always the same...

And after seeing how he drove the F1 renault(and the fact renault gave them the F1 renault to play with) I am 99.9% sure he is a F1 pilot (even a current test/third pilot or a past F1 pilot).

In europe, from what I have seen... helmets are not a big requirement, lol. Even monza open track days, helmets are not mandatory.

I know there was LOT of debate when that show hit the ground. One of the creators of the show is Tim Studdard from Grassroots Motorsports (GRM) magazine. He was very vocal on the GRM message boards that he was against driving without helmets. But the other two guys, Peter Klutt and Tom Hnatiw, felt that it made for better TV if you could see the faces of the drivers/testers.

Personally, I think it sets a really bad example when these "celebrity" drivers are so cavalier about safety.
