A friend of mine has a 1994 E36 320i with auto trans. Recently, the transmission has been slipping (when the car runs hot), resulting in a no drive situation. When the engine cools down after a few minutes, the slippage disappears and the car runs normally without symptoms. The car has 220,000km with the original tranny. The fluid level has been checked and is OK. Ay ideas?

witch color had your fluid transmission?it suppose to be red and viscous. if not change the fluid and your trans maybe ok but it's already «scrap»(in french)
did you change the filter(if it have one)?
it can be 2 things,i think!
maybe the valve body; it have a lot of «passage et tirroir» in that it can be dirty
or it can be the belt in the trans. that have a lot of use and gear slip.
so u maybe have to change it.
and if u cannot find use trans. i advise u to go at any Mr.Transmission. They know where they go and it will be less expensive than a no body
that's my idea!
bonne chance
