Hi all,
I was looking for a used car to replace my old rusty Z22 when I found this awesome deal on a 1994 318is, body is in top shape, only things the engine has 286 000km, since it's a bmw I'm not that worried, I tried it and runned well for that time. What are the things I should do to it to last another 100k km? I'm taking possesion of it today and I'm very excited. I will probably change the radio cassette for the mp3 Clarion I bought for my Z22. What is that thing about radio code, I just want to swap the cassette player, is it standard size ? Anyone knows if these model got the amp and the 10 speaker set-up ?

Make sure the profile gasket has been replaced.

I asked the previous owner(cuz I acquired it today) and told me it was the first thing he did, after dropping the suspension. I checked the gasket on top of engine and it was still looking in very good shape. I afterward went to my dad's garage and inspected it roughly, rear brakes have to be redone and exhaust too. The body is slightly rusted underneath, I'll fix this myself before winter. I got a bug, the vendor told me about it. The dashboard stop functioning and restart few moments l8r, anyone have a clue ? I think about repassing the wiring.

Make sure the profile gasket has been replaced. The timing case profile gasket should not be an issue on an M44 powered E36 318is. BMW was using the new and improved gasket by that time and I've never heard of failures with the new piece.
