Car Is No Longer Under Waranty (4years Or 80km)

Do you have an idea the cause of the breakdown? Perhaps it might be caused by a known problem? This is a big-ticket repair. I would advise you to bring up the issue with BMW Canada - perhaps they just might give you a break.

Can you describe the damage? If it's the bottom end of the engine that is bad (crankshaft, connecting rods, etc.) then that is most likely a defect. If its the top end (valves) then BMW might be less sympathetic as that can be caused by abuse or misuse. I am not implying that is the case but I would like to know what failed. Those engines are not supposed to fail after only 100k.

Engines do not blow just by magic. First let us know under which circumstances the problem happened. Where there telltales signs that the dealer ignored when under warranty? Did you beat the s..t out of it and expect a warranty claim? It would be better if you added more details to your request.

You can bring your car to an independent BMW specialist such as BMW Exclusif at 514 279-7219 and have them make a diagnosis. Where is your car now?

Hi Nike,

I have a similar problem with my 328ci 1996 135KM. What did you do to solve this problem.
