I need some mags for my bimmer. I know some of you have some that you would like to sell :). Mags + tires prefered, but just post what you got in 16" or 17", nothing more. Its for my e36 325i

Did you ever tried 18's (with 225-40-18 tires) ?

Unless you get the suspension lowered, it's a pretty smooth ride..

18" wheels will be heavier than 16 or 17 and will reduce acceleration, will work against the car's suspension and are more prone to damaging. Bigger wheels require bigger motor too. It may look nicer to certain people (to each its own) but it is not a logic choice. I have seen BMWs 318 with big mofo 18 and even 19 inch wheels, bur they were just showcars. Driving a car and playing make-believe are two distincts things.

I just dont want to dent any mags, and with all the holes over here I don't wanna risk anything.

Yes i heard all that stuff... I have an RX-8 and just installed 20" wheels (pretty heavy) even if so many people warned me not doing that... Still, i was ready to put back the stock 18's if things was too bad.

Guess what ? I'll never put the 18's on my car.

- Steering feeling is better
- Cannot feel any change on acceleration, even on a low torque car such RX-8
- The ride is not bumpy (stock suspension tough)
- Handling and stability is way better

Bad side of the story ? Oh yeah, 20's tires are very expensive.

Well I bet you haven't hit a hole yet. I meet so many bumps along the road its sickk. Im not too worried about the preformance from bigger wheels, it just costs more, not so much for the mags its self, but the tires.. I have seen ur wheels you have for sale and if they were in 17's i would take the m3 replicas!

Hey Flip, if you want some 16 inchers, then Cherif our chief instructor has a very nice set of Hartge wheels with Pirelli rubber. It has the proper e36 offset.

Email him.

You should be worried about performance, it also depends on how you drive the car, but extra low profile tires with stiff suspension = crap handling. There is not much difference in tires prices either. If you keep the same diamter a given 245 wheel will have relatively similar prices.

michelin pilot sport

245/40-18 = $238
245/45-17 = $223

Bridgestone S03

245/45-17 = $224
245/40-18 = $233
245/35-19 = $270
