Eligibility
1.1 Participants must be 18 years old and must hold a current driving license for at least two years. Driving events are open to BMWCC, BMWCCA and PCA members, unless otherwise stated. We may invite members from other clubs at specific events.
1.2 No alcohol or drugs are allowed. No pets or unsupervised children. Must be 18 years old to access the track, including passengers being given courtesy rides. No timing devices.
1.3 Complying to rules and cooperative behavior are required for everyone on the grounds.

Definition of a driver school
2.1 A drivers school is a training event held in a closed course where students learn the different driving techniques under very strict rules and controlled conditions. Most students will have an instructor at any time on the track. No passing is permitted unless the slower vehicule acknowledges the presence of the faster car and allows the pass by giving a point-by, using his (her) hand, and only on a straight line in specified passing zones.
2.2 Drivers schools are non-competitive and no timing device is allowed. If anybody is caught timing him(her)self or a friend, then everyone implicated can be expelled from the event.
2.3 Drivers schools are insured, have medical staff and flaggers on duty.

Which cars are allowed?
3.1 All makes of cars are allowed.
3.2 Convertibles are permitted only if they have sufficient rollover protection. Sufficient rollover protections implies an SCCA-FIA spec'ed rollbar with a diagonal reinforcement and rearward bars. The broomstick rule applies: driver's and passenger's helmets should not portrude beyond a "broomstick" going from the rollbar to the top of the windshield. Independent pop-hoops are not accepted as they are not efficient at protecting the car's occupants at higher speeds. Hardtops are not a substitute for a rollbar on a convertible, as they are not as strong as a regular top.
3.3 Occupants of convertibles will be asked to either use arm restraints to keep the occupants' arms in the cabin if a rollover occures, or drive with the windows up for the same purpose.
3.4 SUV are not allowed due to their higher center of gravity, leading to rollovers. Racecars are only accepted in the advanced and instructor groups.
3.5 Open wheels and three wheeled cars are not allowed.
3.6 Cars like Radicals are allowed only in the advanced-solo and instructor groups and must proceed with extreme caution due to their lower stance, offering less visibility to other drivers. Owners must prove sufficient rollover protection.
3.7 All cars are subjected to a pre-event technical inspection according to inspection forms supplied by the club. This inspection must be done within three weeks of an event by a professional mechanic. There is also a short tech inspection, the morning of the event at the track. All vehicules must offer original structural integrity. Vehicules presenting structural rust or any other structural weaknesses may be denied access to the track. It is up to the tech inspection stewards and the track comittee to take the decision, which is irrevocable.

Safety and protection
4.1 As of January 2006, M and SA Snell2000 (and up) helmets are required. Snell95 and DOT helmets will not be accepted. Open face and full face helmets depend on the driver's preference. The sticker proving the Snell standard must be inside the helmet. No sticker, no proof of compliance, no track time. Drivers of cars with stripped interior or full rollcage must use an SA helmet because of the risk of the helmet repetively hitting unpadded structure during an accident.
4.2 4-point harnesses are not allowed due to the lack of anti-submarining sub belt.
5 and 6-point racing harnesses are allowed if the car is ALSO equipped with a rollbar. The sub-belt (or crotch belt, or anti-submarining belt) must be bolted at the vertical of the buckle. No crotch belt should go around the knee bolster.
4.3 Convertibles must have a rollbar which include a diagonal reinforcement as by SCCA-FIA rule. Drivers of Miatas can use a Hardog rollbar. Please submit a picture of the rollbar to the event organizers.
4.4 Cars like the e30 convertible, e36 convertibles are not accepted unless they have a rollbar.
Side note: convertibles without rollbars but with independent hoops will be allowed only at specific events where the conditions offer less risks due to lower sustained speeds. Drivers will be asked to sign a waiver, recognizing that they understand the risks.
4.5 Foam collars and Hans devices are also accepted.
4.6 Equal seating and equal restraint will be enforced. Same type of belts/harness on both sides as well as same type of seating on both sides also required.
4.7 Drivers must wear cotton pants and long sleeve shirts. Closed shoes are required. If the weather is very hot, then short sleeves cotton shirts will be accepted. No nylon, no shorts, no slacks.
4.8 No loose objects in the cockpit. Fire extinguishers are allowed if they are mounted metal-to-metal and are tight in place.
4.9 Proper knowledge of the different safety flags is required before driving on the track. On the first lap, the driver must look for the flagging stations. While driving, the driver must check the flagging stations, lap after lap. Not obeing to the flags can be a reason for being excluded from an event. Observing and giving point-bys is also required.
4.10 Giving passing signals is a clear indication that the driver is well aware of its environement. A driver who do not give proper passing signals can be called in the pits for a reminder from the track marshalls or chief-instructor.
4.11 Cars must have the driver side window fully down. Passenger side window can remain fully up if there is no passenger/instructor. Passing signals are given with the driver's left hand fully extended, up and out of the car, with the fingers pointing clearly in the direction where the passing car should go. One clear point-by for each car.
4.12 Flashers are not an acceptable mean of giving passing signals as they do not self-cancel and do not give a clear indication of how many cars can pass, which can lead to uncertain situations.

Flags
Standing yellow.
Something has happened on the track. No passing is allowed. This flag is also used on the warm-up lap.
Waving yellow.
An incident has occured after the flagging station. Do not pass, slightly slow down and be aware of the incident.
Yellow with red stripes aka the debris flag
There are some debris or fluids on the track. Proceed with caution.
Green flag.
Resume to normal driving from the flagging station. Not before.
Standing blue flag.
There is a faster car behind you.
Waving blue flag.
There is a faster car behind you, give a point-by and let it pass.
Red flag.
There is a major incident on the track. Slow down and proceed safely to a stop on the track side in view of a flagging station. Wait for a signal.
Black flag.
There is something wrong with your car or your driving. Pit in. Wait for a marshall.
Black flag with orange meat ball.
There is something wrong with your car. Pit in. Wait for a marshall.
White flag.
There is a slow vehicule on the track or entering the track. Proceed carefully.
Checkered flag.
The session is over. Slow down for the cool down lap. Pit in.

Tires and exhaust
5.1 Street tires, R-compounds and slicks are accepted depending on the weather conditions. We do not recommand that drivers from the novice and intermediate groups use R-compound tires as they will impeed with their learning process by erasing driving errors. Tires that have previously suffered from a puncture and sporting a plug will not be allowed. The risks of this plug dislodging and letting air out very fast are too high and can lead to dangerous situations.
5.2 Noise limits depend on tracks. Sanair, per exemple has no specific limit, but LCMT requires car to have an exhaust system quiet enough to meet the 93db barrier. Cars that do not meet the criterias may be expelled from the event.
